Diya, school and the lion…

Diya started her new session at school this week. The first day of school she threw a tantrum and just would not get out of the car. Her teacher had to literally grab her and take her inside the school. Later I understand she was okay. It was one of those school Monday blues for her, after being at home for almost a month. She is okay now at school. Both of us, Mummy and Baba we go to drop her at school in the morning.

She was all excited about the new session at school with the new teachers. She was telling me she has lots of new books and toys (which are actually her Montessori educational tools, not really toys!). She likes the one on a tray with a towel and a baby doll. She loves bathing and washing the baby doll and talking about it with me. Maybe its instinctive for girls to have that sense of rearing babies?

She wanted to show off her new classroom’s toys and books to her Mummy, and poor Mummy have been dropping her inside the school since Tuesday. One of her new teachers in fact is the same teacher whom Diya had as her class teacher in her first year of school. Diya likes her as she is young and stylish. She likes the way her that teacher dresses up, and talks about it with me and her Mummy. The thing is that she also wants to dress up like that. That’s how I think role models are developed by a child.

Today after more than a year of having it, she was willing to wear her yellow t-shirt with a lion picture on it. I got it for her from one of my official travels in Africa some years ago. She has been asking a lot about which animal eats what lately. And she likes drawing a lion. She draws the lion’s mane cutely and the body and the tail. She had brought her art book home yesterday and she drew a mummy lion and baby lion. She seemed to have perceived well what a lion looks like, though she still has not seen a real one, except for the ones on Animal Planet and the books. But she insists on drawing six legs of the lion…

Diya is back in Kathmandu…

Diya is back in Kathmandu. She came back on 22nd April. I understand she was at her best behaviours while in Siliguri and Darjeeling.

She tells me she did not do the pony ride as she was scared. She wants to do it with Baba and Mummy when we will all go together to Darjeeling later this year in October during Dassai.

She was quite excited about seeing five Red Pandas at the zoo in Darjeeling. And she could not go for the toy train ride also as the visit was very short. She however got a nice t-shirt with a picture of the toy train in Darjeeling.

Glad the little one is back at home with us!
